Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 11 (Revelation 21:1-7) Life in the new heavens and the new earth is described poetically in the book of Revelation, but practically and comforting as well. Looking ahead to the world that will be should give us strong motivation to share the Gospel with those who are thirsty.

In this week’s message, Pastor Tom Hendrikse introduces the Mustard Seed Campaign, sharing our vision and mission to reach the city and the world, and explaining how this plan is consistent with the 75-year history of this church.

Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 12 (Revelation 21:8-14) The description of the heavenly city communicates more than its appearance. It tells us that the city is made up of living stones, those are the church–the bride of Christ. It is also the fulfilled promise of the perfection that was lost back in Eden.

In this week’s message, Pastor Sam Kastensmidt (following an intro by Pastor Tom Hendrikse) builds on last week’s introduction to the Mustard Seed Campaign. Sam is the headmaster at Bethany Christian School and he shares how the school is creating living stones to one day be part of that glorious heavenly city.

Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 13 (Revelation 21:15-22:5) We wrap up looking at the new heavens and the new earth with a message about the new city. John’s vision is a picture that delivers a powerful message: the new city isn’t a place, it’s people. People with their God not far off, but at their center.

In this week’s message, Pastor Tom Hendrikse shares the truth that God will redeem all life’s experiences, even the hard ones, in the new city. We should take this message to our city today, because it is the hope that they desperately need.

Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 14 (Matthew 13:44-46) What is the value of the kingdom of God? For that matter just what IS the kingdom of God? Pastor Tom Hendrikse answers the second question but Jesus answers the first. Because only the man from heaven could accurately say what the kingdom of God is worth.

In this week’s message, Pastor Tom Hendrikse takes us back over the history of Rio Vista Community Church, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. We see and hear about some of the pioneers who built the platform we operate from now.

Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 15 (Matthew 6:19-34) Money is a topic often avoided around churches, but Jesus had no such reluctance. He tells us quite plainly why we shouldn’t invest in the temporary things of this world and why we SHOULD invest in the kingdom of heaven–then explains why we often don’t.

During the message this week, Pastor Tom had the privilege of participating in the sending of Carter Brown, our now former Pastor of Spiritual Formation and International Missions, to his new position as pastor of a church plant in Miami. Tom introduces a video as part of that, and in the recorded audio he simply comes to to continue with the service, but we’ve linked the video here for those who were not there to see it.

Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 16 (Psalm 24:1; Col. 1:16; Deut. 8:18; James 1:17; 2 Cor. 9; Proverbs 3:9, 27-28) Ownership is a word that provokes feelings of pride and responsibility. Determining who owns something is a cornerstone of our legal system. Who owns what we have: our time, talents, and treasure? Here’s a hint: it’s not us.

Living in the Rhythm of Grace, Part 17 (Genesis 24:1-67) In the story of finding a wife for Isaac, Abraham’s son, you have a father, his son, the father’s servant, and the son’s bride. The church is both the bride and the servant in this story, and we are each asked a question: Will you go?
